Becoming the Best Surrogate Mother in Florida: Insights for Egg Donors

How to be the best surrogate mother in Florida

Florida is one of the most surrogate-friendly states in the nation.  That means there are a lot of surrogate mothers in Florida.  In fact, that means there are a lot of good surrogate mothers in Florida.

If you want to be the best, you’ll have to be pretty good. Here’s your game plan.

First, make sure you really care

  • Make sure you care about the baby.
  • Make sure you care about the intended mother and father.
  • Make sure you care about yourself.

Caring might not seem like much of a strategy, but if you really care, you’ve won 90 of the battle.  That’s because the positive energy you exude toward people around you will be reflected back at you.

When you smile at people, they tend to smile back.

When you speak positively to people, they tend to speak more positively to you.

When you treat people nicely, they tend to treat you nicely, too.

The positive energy will not go unnoticed by the baby inside you. A mother’s psychological state has a big impact on the baby’s development.  Caring and being nice to people will lift your psychological state, and that will advantage the baby.

Your health is also important. You’ll want to do all the things your surrogate agency recommends:

  • Stay away from cigarettes and second-hand smoke.
  • Stick to virgin drinks during the pregnancy.
  • Keep fit with baby-safe exercises, such as yoga.
  • Take all the vitamins and other medications suggested or required by the surrogacy agency.

Keep your own stress low

Before embarking on a surrogacy journey, make sure to organize your commitments so as to have a manageable schedule.  If you have young children in your home, that might include arranging for help with them.

Make sure your finances are well-tended to.  You should not go into surrogacy while you are feeling financial distress.

Make sure your husband in on board.  By on board, I mean enthusiastic. You’ll need his support to help you stay as positive as possible. If his support is only lukewarm, that might make the process emotionally challenging for you.

Keep in touch

Make sure that everybody is up to date with your progress, including your physician and the surrogacy agency.  Especially keep the intended parents apprised of your progress.  They’ll be eager to hear any report you have to offer.

Keeping in touch also means not missing any scheduled appointments.  They are all important, as they monitor your progress and could catch something important that you might have overlooked. Obviously, you don’t want to miss any scheduled treatments, whether they be hormones, check-ups or medications.

If you follow all these tips, you are well on your way to being the best surrogate mother in Florida. And if you bake brownies, and bring them in to our office on your next visit, we might even give you a “best surrogate mother in Florida” certificate to prove it.
