More and more individuals are turning to surrogacy to create or expand their families. The American Society of Reproductive Medicine has reported in the last decade the number of babies born via surrogate mothers in the United State has almost doubled in the United States. In 2004, the number was 738, compared to 1,448 in 2010. These are numbers that reflect only fertility clinics that are members of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine and report their numbers.
